Chaconne des Scaramouches

A really quite wonderful piece of music by the incomparable Jean-Baptiste Lully. Lully was an exquisite composer, more so when composing music for dances such as the sarabande(I have a penchant for this),ritournelle, chaconne and the gavotte(a saucy,17th century dance which I quite adore). It’s just so quintessentially Baroque in style. There’s a consistently heavy base with a lighter, melodic sound in fleeting succession. It’s just beautiful.
